Developed by The Center for Advanced Decision Support for Water and
Environmental Systems (CADSWES) in Boulder, Colorado, in collaboration
with the Tennessee Valley Authority and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation,
RiverWare® is a mature modeling environment applicable to detailed studies
in operation policy, optimization of power, water accounting, and
operational decision making in short- or long-term timeframes. With
many built-in features and customizable functionality, RiverWare® is
used to model, analyze, forecast, and operate complex river and
reservoir systems and the effects of potential water regulations.
RiverWare® has three modes of operation, basic simulation, rule-based
simulation, and optimization, and offers many utilities for development,
calibration, and analysis, including data management interfacing,
plotting, and solution tracking.
Riverside Technology, inc. (RTi) has expertise in RiverWare®
applications for diverse river and reservoir systems, and has
developed procedures and tools to pre-process and format data
imported into RiverWare®. One of the largest and most complex
RiverWare® applications was developed by RTi for the Tennessee
Valley Authority (TVA) to assess the impact of various reservoir
operating policies at critical locations. RTi's RiverWare® projects
also include assisting water managers with the interpretation of
model results, and with the implementation of operating policies
based on analyses using specifically designed post-processing solutions.
