Riverside Technology, inc. (RTi) understands the benefits of broad basinwide
analysis as well as the complexity and importance of precise river basin planning
and modeling. We have many years of experience in the planning, development and
implementation streamflow forecast systems in a wide range of hydrometeorological
conditions. On projects from international river management to municipal water
supply investigations, our system implementations range in scope from a few
forecast points to well over a hundred points covering more than 250,000
square miles. Our planning and modeling experience, coupled with close
client relationships, allows RTi to determine the most appropriate as well
as cost-effective modeling solutions. The firm's system implementations have
included the National Weather Service River Forecast System (NWSRFS),
RTi's
RiverTrak® Streamflow Forecasting System, and the University of Colorado's
RiverWare® Modeling System, in addition to custom modeling systems for special
project requirements.
Examples of river basin planning and modeling activities include:
- Simulation of complex reservoir operations for flood protection and optimization of power production
- Evaluation of alternative reservoir operation policies
- Water supply versus demand analysis to assess new reservoir needs
- Irrigated lands analysis to determine agricultural demand
- Simulation of complex water rights systems such as those administered under the Prior Appropriation Doctrine, and others
- Evaluation of trans-basin water exchanges
