RTi uses state-of-the-art image processing and classification on many projects.
We utilize data from a full range of optical sensors, such as QuickBird, IRS,
SPOT, Landsat, and MODIS, as well as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite
imagery.
Applications of remote sensing at RTi include:
- Irrigation mapping for agricultural and municipal areas
- Land use mapping
- Flood inundation mapping
- Water resources management
Current RTI remote sensing projects include the Decision Support System
for the South Platte River in Colorado. A combination of high-resolution
orthophotography and multi-temporal Landsat data are being used on this
project to map an estimated 1.5 million acres of irrigated lands in the
basin, and to estimate the consumptive water use for each irrigation
diversion, as well as for irrigation wells.
