Flood Inundation Mapping
RTi has developed and implemented flood inundation mapping tools
using streamflow forecasts from RTi's RiverTrak and the National
Weather Service River Forecast System (NWSRFS), as well as using
surface water profiles from HEC-RAS. Flood inundation maps can be
prepared at regular intervals using real-time hydrologic data
collection systems to provide users with observed and forecasted
flood inundation maps. The maps can be displayed using a variety of
standard GIS tools.
Flood inundation maps are useful for emergency management teams,
city and county water departments, forecasting agencies, fire and
sheriff departments, hydropower enterprises, and water managers in
both the public and private sectors.
Hurricane Mitch RiverTrak Flood Inundation Mapping
Demonstration
The RiverTrak flood
inundation mapping demonstration
displays
data from the Choluteca, Honduras area, for the Hurricane Mitch
event of 1998. This demonstration illustrates the use of ArcIMS
with RiverTrak and has been tested on Windows versions 98 Second
Edition and newer using Internet Explorer version 5.5 or more
recent. It is designed for a screen resolution of at least
1024x768. Use the demonstration's help (?) button for more
information about running the demonstration.
