Europe Intro

Riverside has designed and implemented a number of vital water resources projects in Eastern Europe (particularly Romania and Moldova) and the Caucasus countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia), focusing on water monitoring, transboundary water resources data exchange, flood forecasting, and institutional development of water organizations.

Institutional and Regulatory Water Management Strengthening in Armenia
Armenia needed new strategies and tools for water resources management focusing on emerging environmental, social, and economic needs. Riverside examined Armenian water resources monitoring practices and helped implement revised water monitoring guidelines and plans. (Read more…)

Romania required modern irrigation technologies and institutions to support its agricultural development and commercialization. Riverside staff designed and implemented a series of Water User Association training programs throughout Romania. (Read more…)

Information Assessment for Water Management in the Caucasus
Water quantity and quality problems along the Kura-Aras River flowing through the Caucasus lead to serious disputes among the three riparian countries. Riverside developed and implemented a program for transboundary water resources data collection and exchange.  (Read more…)
